Hi Len,
I had the old carburated turbo setup on my car a few years back. Throttle response was not that great, and boost didn't build until after 3000 rpm. If i remember correctly, Buick changed to a smaller A/R turbine in '83, so that might help with the lag issue. The right side exhaust manifold hits the inner fender, so a little massaging is in order.
