Chuck,

I would be interested in a set or 8.

I had no idea what these were from the title or even how important they are on a H-body.

We'll need more time to drum up potential sales. A good, short write-up is needed to explain what these are and why an H-body enthusiast needs new ones.

Let's see - a 500 minimum part run divided by 8 parts per set. That's only 62.5 sets. Who wants the half set? :D

Here's a link to another thread here on H-body where a good, used set of these sold for $71.00 on ebay.

Mods,
Can we make this a sticky?

These dimensions should work well with energy suspension polyurethane bushings. Be sure that the sleeve is slightly longer than the length of the bushing so the washers are in contact with the sleeve not the polyurethane. :!: We used a few washers that where 12 Ga. to take up some extra clearence but most of them where 14 Ga. Fabricating the washers was pretty simple. My dad, Dave ,used a 2" holesaw to cut them out. Deburred the outside edge and then enlarged the center hole to the right size. As far as the sleeve goes it was .120 wall 7/8" mild steel tubing cut the the correct length. Feel free to ask any questions. Thanks, Jason.

Using 48 Fiat's method, I wonder if the sleeve can be pushed out of rubber bushings? I just bought new rubber bushings, measuring inside of sleeve came up with .017 out of round! So even fitting brand new Ferrules would be iffy at best. I do have a 12 ton shop press, so maybe it will be a piece of cake removing and replacing bushings? Is there any type of lube recomended to help with the rubber, or best to just do it dry?

I can't speak for the poly bushings but with the rubber OEM ones there may be an issue with these washers. Reason being is that while the hole in the washer is .6250 (same as the cam bolt) the ID of the steel sleeve in the bushing is a little bigger, that's where the lip on the original washer takes up the difference. So there is still some potential for the bushing to move under load since it is not in contact with the bolt, the only thing holding them is the friction between the tip of the sleeve and the washer.
On another note, I am not sure if this was the question but you can't press the sleeve out of the rubber bushing without destroying the rubber. The rubber is bonded to the sleeve as well as the outer can. If you just want to reuse the sleeve that's ok, you can burn the rubber out with a torch, after the bushing is removed from the car of course.

Yes, this is what I was wondering. I wanted to remove the sleeve and replace it with my own made from scratch to fit the bolt tightly, same as 48 Fiat did with his poly bushings.

I'm in for a set. I don't know that I put mine back in. Since it was probably 10 years ago, I have to go look. But hey, I'll support the cause anyway.

I emailed Vega Dave and got a call from him a while later. Nice guy! A wealth of information. Passionate about the H bodies! Anyways, I’m getting a set of the ferrules from him. FYI.
