There is a bearing kit to install the aftermarket gears such as your 2.73 and
retain your original yoke. This uses a different size pinion bearing and seal
to allow you to use after market ring and pinions or other gm ring and pinions.
The part #'s are:
Timkin Tapered Roller Bearing: 16143
Federal Mogul Race : 16283
Federal Mogul Oil Seal 8610
They will run you about $50.00 total. And more than likely you will find them
at a industrial supply business more than a parts store. Good luck, John.

Subject: [MONZA VEGA] I need help!

I need to find a 2.56 or 2.29 ratio for my rear-end
Please, anyone who has a good set of gears outta a V8
let me know. I'm havin a hell of a time findin the ratio
ring and pinion that I need. Nobody makes the 26 spline
pinion. I had a new set of 2.73s but they didn't fit, and
I don't wanna get rid of my yoke out because of the fear of
a different size u-joint. Too much money for a new custom
driveshaft, I'm just a kid.

This club is great!
I'm glad to know there are more monzas out there, rock on!

do a vaccum test on your engine you should run a power
valve that is just under the amount of vaccum you
have.i started with a 65 on mine and had to drop cause
it wouldn't run right.

Swap Meet and Races scheduled. Many clubs and
organizations have talked about or attempted to get Vega enthusiasts
together without any luck. Well now it is going to happen. Through
discussions with many others in the Vega community I have decided
that instead of having a get-together of only Vegas it would be best
to start out during a larger show until attendance builds up enough
to host our own event. During July 24th –27th 2003, Norwalk Raceway
Park (Located in North Central Ohio) is hosting its annual Super
Chevy Show. I have personally attended this awesome event and it is
well worth your time to attend. An auto parts swap meet, car show,
and races are continually going on throughout the weekend. I will
get back to you on a later date with prices and maybe a more detailed
time schedule. Please email me at <a href="/group/monzavega/post?protectID=200181250003093209036242046056129090177230">kbb@b...</a> with comments,
questions, or suggestions. I hope to hear from many of my fellow
Vega enthusiasts. See you in July
