Hooker 2135 in Vega?

Will the Hooker 2135 headers fit in a 74 Vega
with manual steering and brakes? The actual
application for that part number is 75-81 Monza. What
differences in the front frame and/or firewall are expected
and what clearancing if any is expected? Has anyone
with a Vega used these headers? Any ideas or
information would be very appreciated. Thank
You.

Regards,
Elliot

Hooker 2135 in Vega?

I also have questions about these headers.
I
got a PAW catalog here with several pages of Hooker
headers. 2135 is listed under MONZA 75-79 265-400 and
SUNBIRD 79 265-400CH. The catalog also lists under Engine
Swaps 2129(small block) and 2240(big block). Both 2129
and 2240 are said to fit
Monza,Vega,Sunbird,Astre,Starfire, and Sky hawk. The 2135s accomodate cars with PS/PB/AC
but 2129&2240 do not. The 2135 also says "Available
with fittings to accomodate air injection manifold".
Does that mean smog tubes? It seems like the 2135 is
designed to fit factory stock. Does any one know if these
headers are smog legal in CA on cars originally equipped
with V8s? For that matter, has any one passed smog
with headers?
Elliot, my guess is that they would
fit but that's just an assumption. Your question is
probably easier to answer than mine. We'll
see.

Later,
Roger

The 2135's fit with stock motor mounts, the
2129's must use a front motor plate and will not fit
with stock motor mounts. The 2135's do have the
fittings for the air injection tubes, whether or not this
makes them legal in California, I don't know. I
recommend the 2135's unless you are racing. They have 1
1/2" tubes for good torque, fit well, and go in pretty
easy and provide good ground clearance. Clyde

BTW, i don't think that you would have any
problem installing the 2135's on a vega, can't be 100%
sure but I think the main reason they are not listed
for a vega is because the vega never came with a V-8
from the factory. Clyde

Air injection fitting are what
you wrote
smog fitting
No you won`t pass a smog check....

those headers don`t have a CARB
approuval number

some state may let you pass but i doubt
california
will let you...

All engine stuff listed for a
monza will
work on a vega

2135:
fits
stock chassis
fits power steering and brakes

can be used whit v-8 monza mounts
can be used
whit Hooker or T/D front
engine mount

2129:
fits stock chassis (need to enlarge the

brake line hole)
fits power steering and brakes

(might need to modified front engine mount
so you
can mount the P.S. pump)
(one member told me that
Hooker advertise
them only for a manual Steering and
brake
car because the heat MIGHT cause premature

wear on the power components)
(so far i used the
min my spyder for 6
years and didn`t have a
single problem)

Need to use a front engine
mount or plate
(Hooker and Trans-Dapt sell
some)
Or make your own,like me

2240:

well,lots of work,
so far no experience whit those but
my
guess is that a BIG block will be tigh
in
the little car

Thank you for all the replys and support. I
started second guessing myself when Summit mail order was
giving me a hard time about the catalog application. I
got the headers in a box in my garage and they look
like they will fit with my Monza mounts. Plus everyone
who replied supported that they would fit. F.Y.I.
Summit seems to be the only mail order place that stocks
2135 in black and ceramic. Everyplace else needed a 2
week lead time to get them from Hooker.

Thanks
Again
Elliot
