I just finished repainting my interior plastic, I think it turned out quite nice for a first time try. For anyone as dumb as me, I would highly recommend marking or labeling or even putting the screws back in their holes so you won't have to try to remember where they go two weeks later.
I cleaned all the pieces, sanded all the rough and brittle places, then cleaned again. I used a couple of coats of
SEM Vinyl Prep prior to painting. I painted with off the shelf SEM Color Coat, mostly for the price difference, they could have color matched a couple of cans for about $95, I spent about $15 per can. The color isn't an exact match but close enough for me.
Next step... tune up!
