73 Vega Hatchback Side Window Seals HELP

Postby 73VegaGT_LV » Mon Aug 13, 2012 5:49 pm

I'm looking for the Side Window Seals for my 73 Vega. I've read there was a company in California that stopped making them a while back. From what I've seen, its easier to find a unicorn than these Seals.
Have any of you guys use universal ones? If so, which ones and where can I purchase them?
Thanks, Chris

I assume you need the seals for the fixed (not swing-out) windows. I would think a parts car form a cooler climate would yield a usable set that haven't been cooked by the sun. (The ones on my '73 are still soft and pliable.) Have you tried Dave's Vega Village? Now if you need seals for the flip-out windows you'll have a much harder time locating a good set.

Your best bet would be to talk to Clyde (cjbiagi), he may have something that will work or at least be able to point you in the right direction.

I haven't seen those available for many years. I know they were being made by a aftermarket company years ago but they stopped making them and I do not know where any are available at. Maybe if I knew what the size and profile was something could be found?

The only way I know is to measure it and try and see if some other weatherstrip may be similar. I spent a lot of time trying to find proper glass run channels as well as cowl seals that I make. There are tons of different weatherstrips, I really know nothing about the Vega quarter window ones though. :(
