so i got the camaro striped and now have a storage unit full of parts

Good job,
Let me know how it goes on fabrication as I'm in the same boat =) The Camaro T-5 has a 17 degree tilt I believe but I don't see that as a huge problem. It's gonna be interesting build for sure.

If you have a '72 rear, it's a 6.5" and the S-10 axle shafts will not fit. The S-10 axles are for a 7.5" and have a different spline count. S-10 have two spline counts depending on years (26 and 28) if I remember correctly.
I think the 7.5" H-body rears started in '75.....

If you check the FAQ on the H-body homepage in the library section, you should be able to get correct info. http://www.h-body.org/library/hbodyfaq/index.html

The 7.5's used in h-bodies utilize the torque arm rear suspension. To use one in a car with a 6.5 you must remove your upper trailing arm mounts off of the 6.5 and have them welded on the 7.5, the lower mounts are the same.

You need both the upper and lower mounts for the S10, just make sure the S10 axle is from a 2WD and not a 4WD.

Just a question, if swapping in a later H-body 7.5 rear end, couldn't the torque arm and tail shaft housing be utilized as well making the swap easier or will they not work on the earlier cars ?

Don't forget you need to have a sturdy mount for the panhard bar as well.

IMHO, if you go with a 2WD S-10 rear end then stick with the 72 bracket set up as the S-10 rear ends do not have a place for the torque arm to attach. As mentioned you will need to fabricate a pan hard mount also not to mention you will need to locate and buy all these additional parts. If you already have the a S-10 rear, take some measurements, cut off the 72 brackets and weld them on the S-10 rear and bolt it back up. Just saying.
