Postby ski.dive » Sat Nov 10, 2012 1:32 pm

CONVERTED THE VEGA STATION WAGON TO A 'WOODY SURFING WAGON'

NOTE THE CLASSIC SURFING DECALS,THE 'WIDE' WHITEWALL TIRES & OF COURSE THE SURFBOARD ON THE TOP RACK.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Looks great- I really like it ! If I would have a wagon, this would be the way to go on.

How did you do the white borders of the wood areas ? The wood is foiled, I believe ?

The borders on the wood are BEIGE, they came like that from the factory.

My VEGA wagon is 100% original [paint, motor, interior] 30k miles, & zero rust!!!!

++++Steffen: Is your Vega a daily driver in Germany? I used to live in Mainz.

I was planning a similar look on a Suburban I owned. (Never happened). But, I searched "Surf Shop Decals", or something like that, before I sold it. There are tons of surf shop decals available. I even saw one from Belgium!

I found some VITAGE SURFING DECALS from the 1960's & 1970's on Ebay, put them in the rear windows :th:

Great ! I never know, that they made the wagon also with the wood style from factory side. Your car looks great with it.

My vega is not a real daily driver anymore. I just take it out sometimes at nice weather to cruise around.
It has actually ~29k miles original, and is almost rust free, too (except of a small spot behind on the hatch of the rear window). I did not modify too much, only some things that could be easily removed (wheels, steering wheel, stripes etc.).
I live in Bad Homburg (near Frankfurt) and work in Wiesbaden. So you know very well the area here.
