Headers for LS in a vega

Postby bjankuski » Mon Sep 16, 2013 3:01 pm

I would like to install a LS3 in a Vega, are there any headers available that work with this combination as a direct fit or with minor modifications?

Thanks

Not that I know of. I have had 2 sets made so far and its pretty big $$$

Way back when I started I almost went with some stock log manifolds, forward or back, whatever would clear and then just make or get pipes made to just got from there to where ever you want the pipe to go. I think there are a number different ones that are all really close but slightly different.

The Trailblazer - Rainier cast manifolds will fit.
Only possibility for ready made headers would be shorties for an S-10, but it will be really close on the Passenger side. I didn't want to buy a pair just to find out if they fit or not.
Other than that you are custom making them yourself or paying someone to do it for you. :(

I'd be in for a set if some people wanted to get together for a group buy.

for a group buy, everyone would need to have the same motor mount set up..
I built mine with a generic header kit from speedway..welded/coated had about 450. in mine...

I ran the trail blazer manifolds on mine. (before Hooker came out)
Hooker is making a set sorta like block huggers. suppose to be "performance type Manifold" look pretty good.
And not priced too bad.

If you could move the motor and firewall back about 6". .. . . Schoenfeld "Chassis" Headers work fine.

Thats what I did. . . .. On a 1978 Monza. . .. . when I did this, everything cleaned up, and cleared up wonderful. But I understand a lot of people won't go to that much trouble. Howeve, it took me about a week at night shift work, to get it done. Only major problem, was wipers. . .. . had to get rid of them.
