What is a good source for Recall bulletin's?

Have you ever looked over the Buick Domestic and Export Reports? These RPO's and three letter codes are on different pages of the 1977 report I just put them together hoping that somebody might make sense of them. The UN4 RPO I think is a radio option (cartridge delete). I haven't talked to anybody who knows what the three letter codes are. One goal is to find the VIN for the only 350 V8 Buick Skyhawk. Any help is appreciated. Brian

OK: I'm the owner of this possible last Vega out of the assembly line. I've been showing my 1977 Vega Wagon at different car shows thru Florida. This little car gets more attention than most other cars at the show...lol. I do show people the vin#and the 7/77 manufacture date & tell them that it could possibly be the last Vega made. 50% of the people that come by to look at my car, have never heard of the Chevy Vega, the other 50% owned a Vega or knew someone who had a Vega way back then.

How's the last Known Vega doin? Haven't heard in a while..

My latest thinking is that this car might illustrate an interesting point.. The last car, might not have the vin exactly at the documented total.

800 cars is a tiny drop in the total production number's for 77. My guess is there were 3 or 4 total screw up cars a day, and they were simply scrapped.
No time or need to mess with re-using the used vin # 's. Just build a new one to order with the next available vin#. This would easily explain this Vega's higher-than the-sales-total-vin#

The original owner of this VEGA, who purchased the car BRAND NEW in Amarillo,Tx, told me that it was the last VEGA out of the assembly line... AS TOLD TO HIM AT THE DEALERSHIP.

Chevrolet was just glad not make any more VEGAS, the VEGA was a BIG TIME FAILURE for GM...lol

The first VEGA out of the assembly is VERY FAMOUS, it was a BIG HYPE.
But no one cared about the LAST VEGA EVER MADE...LOL

As far as I'm concerned, until someone else shows me a higher vin# VEGA, I have the last VEGA evermade!

 Your opinion's sound strong being written in Cap's like that ...the "big time failure" one. Is the one that grabs me.

Of course, your absolutely entitled to think that.. Just me personally, I wouldn't use those term's in all caps to describe the actual car's themselves..
I've run 15 + different ones and loved them all (all 2nd gen's) They were great little cars! Stock and/or modified! Will GM ever release a platform so available to hot -rod ing? And LS7 in a Cruze ?

--But-- as far as GM's Reputation as a reliable small car maker...Yes!... I think I might use those term's!! They just kind of ran from the car and moved forward. :(
No big PR on how the car's success's. So now consumers will always carry the "failure" sentiment, with the car. what does it all mean? whats "big time" really mean? --Everybody takes it to their own level--..
Overall, GM's a busy car maker, not a history machine.. I don't think the public's opinion on the 40 year old Vega is making a dent in Cruze/Sonic/Spark sales.

Easy to take thing's too personally if the car in question is one a person has that car-lust thing going for. <that's for sure!

I love what you've done with the car. That's a great idea. :th:

The latest information, is that the line halted for 1977 (at Lordstown) on June, 22nd 1977.

So the "07" on your car is correct... but I expected 07C or 07D. Yours is 07A.

They were making '77 Monza Town Coupes and Sunbird's at that time, so it appears that maybe Vega's truely ended, during the week of 07A, and the last remaining days to July,22 were spent building the Monza and Sunbird.. (Or you have the last Vega -Wagon- while a few other hatchback Vegas rolled on until the 22nd).

In either case you have last documented Vega.

...sometimes the workers will sign there names in the trunk of the very last model down a line.

A good buddy of mine worked at the GM Arlington plant for two decades and said he never signed anything but his paycheck. Reading this thread I would agree that this wagon was there the last week/day of Vega production and I would say this website of H-Body researchers is good enough to define this wagon as the last documented Vega produced albeit a wagon with stickers and a surf board on it =) The reality is the very, very last produced Vega died an ugly death crushed and recycled in anonymity.

One thing to keep in mind is that GM cars were built on the line not by sequential VIN but by invoice orders.

So a car coming off the line could have a vin of 123456 and the next one behind it 123462 depending on how the orders came in and were put into the queue.

That's not to say this is or is not the last Vega, but finding a higher VIN Vega would not prove or disprove that. We'd have to find a 07B or 07C or 07D for that.

I know exactly what your saying. It's 100% correct.. In this case, the VIN on the car has some significance since it's some 586 unit's higher than the quoted official total of 77 Vega's. The possible reasons have been discussed in the thread.
