upgrade '74 vega brakes

Postby hervegawagon » Mon Dec 29, 2014 7:00 pm

Hey everybody, I have a dumb question for you, can the backing plates and drums from the '76-later be bolted to the earlier 6.5" rearend? What about later rotors, will they fit the '74 spindle or do need the later spindle. I ask because I can't do a full rearend swap and it seems you can still find the later brake parts. thanks- Mark

As long as the '76 has a 6.5 rear end, some have 7.5 and I don't know if they are the same. The vented '76 and later Monza rotors will fit the spindles but you will also need '76 Monza calipers and master cylinder. The rotors may rub some on the spindles. On mine they rubbed on the cast in part number, I just sanded the numbers off and they cleared.
