2010-2013 Camaro LS3 exhaust manifolds for Hbody swaps?

Postby 70styleVega » Wed Jan 14, 2015 11:45 pm

Has anyone used or looked at these factory exhaust manifolds for a H-body swap?

They look like they might fit without modification, have no EGR ports and a better looking shape (flow) than the '98 LS1 manifolds.
The 2010-2013 manifolds are similar in shape to the Hooker cast iron swap manifolds.

If no one can confirm their fit, I will likely look for a set of '98s.

I can't tell you for sure, but I know that 5.3L Trailblazer/Envoy manifolds fit without too much trouble.

I would just pony up the cash for the hookers they look like the best fit. Other options are ctsv, speedway motors ls manifolds, 98 fbody and trailblazer. In my opinion the engine has to be raised to high for the trailblazer manifolds to clear the chassis rails. Powered by ace has a kit to modify an early f body pan so the engine sits nice and low in the chassis along with mounts and headers to complete a ls swap. He says the hooker manifolds should work too.

Thanks....

I have made a bookmark library from the H-body threads about LS swapping. Good Stuff
LSTech is also a great resource.

The Power by Ace Vega team continues to add Vega hardware.... It has been a while since I went to their sight. Wow.

The 98 F-body manifolds are the only ones that everyone seems to agree fits well, AFTER YOU MODIFY THE FLANGES to reduce the size.
Also, some have complained that they are ugly because of the EGR flanges.

A look at the inside of the late manifolds and it is easily to believe that they outflow 98 F-body manifolds by the way the tubes merge.
There are no EGR flanges.... they resemble the Hookers a little.
I was wondering if anyone had tried them to see if they would bolt on WITHOUT MODS. They seem to be pretty cheap on ebay.
Recently, I've been leaning towards using a LS truck intake with Microsquirt EFI. Since I'm new to EFI, I want to build a simple no-hassle exhaust system.

Please keep the comments coming.

the ls3 manifolds (and trail blazer) flair outward whereas the others tuck in.

I'm doing a 6.0 swap on my 74 now and I'm not sure which manifolds will work best since I built headers for mine, But the ebay fabbed oil pans fit great and clear stock steering with no problems. Also the truck intake is way too tall without some sort of large hood scoop

The Camaro manifolds look too wide at the back. That is where you need the room. The Hookers seem like they would fit well. Sanderson offers some LS headers that tuck real tight and should work as well. The truck intake is too tall for an H-body.

I used the Trail Blazer Manifolds. At the time the Flying Turd had just been built and were used on that. Honestly, they were the best of all I tried, that being, F body, and truck. I modified an F- body pan to get engine a little lower, and notched the pass side frame just a little to clear flange on Manifold. After that all worked good.
Truck intake wont fit under stock hood. I went F-body intake and cable Throttle body.
Pics in my Project build.

Thanks for all the comments.... keep 'em coming.

I also appreciate the heads-up on the Trailblazer manifolds.

I'm also going to contact Power by ACE. Their LS engine/tranny swap kit is nice and reasonably priced.
I see that a couple of header choices are available....
I'll ask about their headers and what factory manifolds will fit (for the DIY turbo kit option).

If you do buy any parts from ACE ( ls mounts, pan, exhaust ) I would appreciate putting up pictures.
When I talked to him he stated that his mounts position an ls engine in the same location as a stock v8 -
( rear face of block same distance from firewall and crankshaft at factory height and offset in chassis.
Factory v8 cars position the rear face of the block closer to the firewall and offset the engine center line to the passenger side when compared to a 4cyl.

I'm looking at a pretty good deal on a pair of Hooker swap manifolds....
In addition to tucking tight, Hooker claims that they support up to 500 HP. That'll move your H-body.
From the feedback here, the Hookers trump using the 2010-2013 Camaro manifolds and other factory manifolds.

The Hooker manifolds in combination with the PowerbyAce mount kit (tranny mount, engine mounts, pan mod parts) may work out to be a powerful and simple to install combo for those who want to use cast manifolds for their NA or turbo swaps.

Also, I currently have a truck intake for my 6.0.... if it won't fit under my L88 hood, I'll swap to a LS1/LS6 intake style as you guys recommended.
I can't wait to get enough parts to mock something up!

I bought a set of the Hooker LS shorty headers and they are run very tight to the motor, my front rails are custom so they did not work for me
but I bet they fit fine with a stock frame rails.

I've purchased the Hooker swap manifolds.
When I get the Power by ACE motor & tranny brackets I'll probably start a new thread and post some photos.

I know for a fact the '98 F Body double wall stainless manifolds will work after the stock flanges are removed and replaced with 2.25-2.50" v-band flanges. I ended up only using the driver side manifold since I had to build a log manifold for the passenger side (turbo setup).
