1973 Chevy Vega V-8 swap

Postby Chevy Sam » Thu Sep 03, 2015 10:42 am

I have a 1973 Chevy Vega hatchback and i've been wanting to put a 400 Chevy Smallblock in it for quite some time, what is a good rear axle and what is a good automatic transmission for a budget build, would the original th350 work with a V-8?

Budget build.....I used an s10 blazer (2000 model). Yes, a 350 turbo will work and fit well in your Vega behind a SBC.

GU4=3.08
GU5=3.23
GU6=3.42
GT4=3.73
GT5=4.10
HC4=4.56

G80 - posi carrier
gear ratio codes are on a sticker in the glove box

The 2WD rear end is the correct width, 4WD is wider.
