I should be getting my FI Tech unit installed later this year. I need to run a return line and a heavier power lead for the Aeromotive pump that'll be in the tank.

I've done a bunch of different EFI conversions, and the simplest one yet is the FiTech. The newest offering from Holley looks to be quite similar.

I just shopped FiTech, FAST EZ, Edelbrock, Holley and acouple others this weekend (sick with flu ) and my concerns are will they program down to 215 cubic inches on the V8 setting?
215 needs small venturi and I'm afraid it will be too much volume at just off throttle opening and part throttle positions.

If I get some good vibes on it, there will be one of them on my 215 Kammback .... if I don't have to re-ring it. Smoking a bit at idle, now.

The entry level FiTech is supposed to be usable down as low as 150hp., but I also agree with you that there could be issues at low throttle opening. I would call their tech line and have a chat with someone. The only setup I've encountered any problems with as driveability go was the other end of the spectrum; a F.A.S.T. EZ EFI that's rated to 600hp on a 415 cube stroker LS engine with a huge cam. It's cranky when started cold and twice has backfired hard enough to damage the MAP sensor.

My old Edelbrock 500 cfm 4-barrel has been de-tuned by D&D Fabrications (THE 215 guys near Detroit). While it ran great on my first 215, this one has a 282 duration cam and just seems to be too rich. It also has developed a whistle at one of the linkages that go through the carb. Rather than spend the dough on replacing it, or refurbishing the Holley 390 that came on it, I'm leaning towards FI this time around.

I'm currently running a 2.56 rear gear with a T-50 five-speed that has the 0.80 OD. As you can see from my autocross videos, it works great!
I'm wanting to swap in a NWC T-5 with the 0.63 OD for a potential of cruising at 70-75 mph.... and get 30+ mpg. FI would be icing on the cake.

I'm not exactly ready to buy in yet.... may have to rebuild/re-ring the 215...... but it's on the list of "wants" when next autocross season come around (dang, just a few more months  ).

2.56 is a pretty tall gear to run with an overdrive trans; both of the Vegas I had with the T-50 came with 3.42's.

Yeah, but........
Both my 215-powered Vegas had 2.56 gears..... it seems the 13" wheels with 205/60s keep it reasonable. My first 215 would pull up our mountain roads in 5th at 1100 rpm without a hiccup. It pulled down low better than this 282 duration 215. Of course, it isn't a drag car.
I easily pull out in 2nd gear in both cars.

As you can see, it pulls nicely enough to break both tires loose in a couple corners........ fuel starvation on the 360 hurt (and a little pushing in front) .... the 3.40 first gear was almost perfect for this course..... didn't have to shift at all. https://youtu.be/Jl_SCwetGmw
Granted, the eventual swap to a T-5 with a higher 1st gear might necessitate a rear gear change..... but I was really hoping to keep 70 mph cruise rpms down around 1500.

Back on topic.....
Ebay has FiTech unit for $795
I like FITECH underhood fuel cell that doesn't require an in-tank pump change...... if it's not too loud..... $395

If the 1500rpm highway cruise is what you want, and you still have 13" wheels, then I concede that the 2.56 gears are what you need. The performance potential left on the table with a rear gear that tall is too much in my opinion; I tend to think of these cars as "weekend toy" not "daily driver" or "highway cruiser".
As to the FiTech underhood surge tank/fuel sump, I wouldn't bother with the expense, especially on a vehicle that already has an in-tank electric pump. Really meant for older cars with mechanical pumps so there's no modifications required to the existing fuel system.
