Those Who've Repainted/Redyed Interior...

Postby olds70supreme » Thu Nov 17, 2016 11:13 am

Can I get a rough idea on usage in pints/quarts, along w/ what brand you used, from “X” color to “Y” color, what panels were recolored, etc…? I’m going to be freshening up the blue interior on my ’75 Starfire and will need to coat everything but the seats and carpet. Looking to get an idea on how much to order so I can order it all at once and avoid color differences between lots.

I would say a quart should be more than enough, you might get by with a pint but it's nice to have some leftover. I had my next any auto paint store and I believe it was Dupont, I have also used SEM with good results

I've used the SEM on my dash pad and kick panels with excellent success. Never dyed fabric but I'm sure there are good directions for quality products.

Here's what I did a few years ago, with pictures.

I am definitely needing to do my dash as well. Did you have to remove it to get better coverage or was leaving it in ok to do the job?

I took mine out. I don't think you'd want to spray it in the car, masking everything would be a royal PITA. If you do this, be very careful handling it. I wasn't and I ended up with a huge crack in the weak spot above the gages.

You can't go wrong with SEMA products especially when planning to paint interior pieces. I use it before and have no complaints whatsoever.
