Tail Light cover pattern

Postby ol55 » Tue Mar 28, 2017 11:59 am

Does anyone have a pattern for the rear tail light covers? I thought they were plastic since mine did not have them.

Thanks,
Larry

Are you going to try to cast some new ones from plastic resin, that would be cool.

No, not casting although that would be cool. Are they cardboard or something like masonite?

Are we talking about the taillight lense?

P.S. I get it now, you are referring to the inside cover panel, ya its like a heavy cardboard material, need some new ones myself, if I can find my old ones I can make up a couple patterns for you.

There must be some members here that have made up there own pieces that can contribute their experiences and what works?

IIRC the later Vega hatchbacks and Astre's had a plastic trim piece, my 73 has the press board panel.

Being from the Monza Camp I haven't seen one up close [Like in my own 2 grubby little hands] but, I think if this is of the construction I am thinking it is, I would be willing to try and make one from "Paper Mache" I would think with a little patience a better than reasonable facsimile should be quite "Doable". 71-3 vega hatchback used these. Guy from another site had a good idea of using a Camaro rear package tray cardboard to trace them on, make new ones, pretty much same material.

That would be sweet to have a pattern available
