75 monza 2+2 factory pulleys

Postby Frosty92 » Tue Feb 06, 2018 12:56 pm

I picked up a 1975 monza 2+2 hatchback. w/ac just how it was when they pulled the engine out in 1985. kept in a barn.
Putin my 5.7 stock car in it I.
I am using a short water pump due to radiator clearance.
Any info on pulleys everything i am finding is for the long water pump.
It is an ac car and I would like to keep that on it.
Thanks for any help i might get.

I believe all V8 H bodies had short water pumps. Obviously AC cars used different pulleys than non AC. If you can try to find stock Monza V8 pulleys, otherwise you may want to look at ones from 70's Corvettes which also used the short pump. It's get tricky when mixing and matching so watch your belt alignment,.

Does your car have power steering ?
Do you have the original mechanical fan ?

FYI, my 75 V8 Monza did not come with a clutch fan. It has a stock 7 blade direct mount fan. It does not even have clearance for a clutch fan. Those may not have been put on until the front end was redesigned in 1978.

Car is packed away for the winter, so can't do pics right now. It's just the standard 7 blade factory fan. As a side note, it uses a 3/4" fan pilot on the water pump which is not the same as the usual smallblock Chevy short pump which uses 5/8" pilot. The only other car that uses the 3/4" fan pilot is the 71-82 Corvette which is why I use that pump (chrome).

I have a triple-groove Monza WP pulley that I bought and couldn't use, if it'll work for you.

It does have power steering that mounts on the head. I didn't get a fan with the car Engine and trans was missing.

My short water pump pilot is bigger than all my pulleys i have from long pumps.
I have a standard 7 blade fan i guess i could just drill that pilot hole out once i get the pulleys.

Thanks, Finding stock 75 Monza pulleys w/ac and power steering seems to be quite the task.
Might have more luck on the Corvettes.

don't drill the 7 blade fan if it is the original. There is a spacer that goes between the fan and water pump. Spacer is 5/8 thick aluminum with 3/4 pilot hole for water pump, 5/8 pilot stub for fan 2" bolt spacing. I'm sure there is an aftermarket spacer that could be made to work.

Many, many years ago when I started building V8 Vegas, I compiled a list of the part #'s of all the Monza parts I was using. It might be of some use to know the actual part numbers.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
The "fleet"-
72 Vega HB Drag Car -383/'Glide/9"(9.35@146.19)(5.94@117.28 1/8th)
77 Vega Estate wagon- project(someday)will have TPI305/T-5, S-10 spindles/axles
76 Vega GT- 400/4spd/9" retired from active duty(rusty)
06 Silverado 2WD ex.cab daily
03 Silverado 2WD ex.cab (retired)
06 Haulin' 20ft enclosed car transporter
06 GMC Canyon Shop truck
07 Colorado project( 5.3 4L60e swap)
99 Saturn SL1- wife's car
01 Saturn SC2- son's project
07 Saturn Ion Redline project
and 4 more Saturn "parts cars"
Note- the very act of listing all of these has made me realize I have some kind of problem.....

And in case anyone is wondering, all the accessory drive part #'s are for a right side alternator, Non A/C car.

3744043 crank - double groove, low perf V8

3751232 crank - PS drive insert single, low perf V8

the crank pulley is 2 piece, the 3751232 is only the add-on 3 rd groove for power steering
