75Monz, I'm far from being fully versed on this but I think you are correct that would work as long as he is running headers and not stock exhaust manifolds. I would assume he is going with headers but as far a I know if you want to run stock Monza exhaust manifolds you need to use the stock oil pan that has the dip stick going through a hole in the side of the oil pan. I also have a set of 80's stock GM exhaust manifolds that were donated to me by a guy who was dropping V8's into Monza's and Vega's a few years back and he told me they will fit in the Monza engine bay and give better access to the plugs but I have not tried them and are not sure what GM they are off of. I could get the casting numbers if anyone is interested. The manifolds are in my car somewhere and I can't test fit them as my motor is out of the car.
