Poll of Forum users vs FaceButt users

Postby 74_Vega_GT » Wed May 08, 2019 12:14 pm

Hi All,
I happened to visit the "VegaNation" page on Facebutt the other day and couldn't help but wonder what the co-participation rate was for both platforms. Also, I wondered if the Facebutt users were aware of this forum and vice versa. I would have liked to have been able to ask questions or add comments to some of the FB posts, but I would have had to join F.B., something I refuse to do, same for Twitter or Instagram for that matter. I do like this forum and I am appreciative of all the help I have received from some fine members.
Is it possible for a moderator or Admin to set up a poll of some sort to get an idea of the number of co-users for F.B. and this Forum, or Forum only users, or F.B."veganation" only users ?? Just kikkin it out there....Peace

Well I have been on this forum forever and can say without hesitation that Facebook has a ton more participation. I don't particularly like FB as much as I have said before because there are so many different H body groups we have become totally fragmented. It is also hard to find stuff that you read earlier on FB. I base this on the fact that I just posted about a week ago that I am going to be supplying roof rail seals for Monza, Skyhawk, Starfire and Sunbird hatchbacks. I was testing the waters to see how much interest there is. I think I heard from 3 people on this site and about 40 on Facebook!!!!! So, that tells you where everyone is. Here are some of the H body FB groups, I am sure there are a lot more. Anyone can start their own page and get followers.

Monza Madness
Monza Garage
H Body Owners Assoc
Vega Nation
Monza Spyder Registry
H Body Hooligans
GM H Body Cars
H bodies in wrecking yards
Monzsters Pro Street
Chevy Monza restoration

I'll agree there, I find the Facebook groups are far more active and quick to respond to questions or ideas. Well I have used forums in the past quite extensively (I'm amoderator on nastyz28.com) I do find the Facebook groups are more instantaneous. The other advantage of Facebook versus most forums is that your attaching your real name and your real picture to everything you say and do so trolling and just general troublemakers are kept to a bare minimum. Not that I found a problem on this forum but it is typical.

I happen to like the the wealth of data hiding in a forum like this one, and have to agree that can be slow here. A few forums I've joined seem like they are completely dead with a random response from any severe die-hards left. I tried joining Monza madness, wasn't a real fan of the whole randomness, could have just been the several times I peeked in or just that I almost never use facebook for anything. Several forums that I'm in like geometroforum and gmsquarebody have been the most helpful places for info, ideas and just all around friendliness on my other line of project vehicles, so I'm sort of biased to forums for now. :th:
Some people are like slinkies. They serve absolutely no useful purpose, but still put a smile on your face when pushed down a flight of stairs.

I check in here a couple times (2 or 3) a week now, no need to do once daily anymore, I did that a couple of months ago and found some one or two post days, so every couple of days and I am up to speed in five to ten minutes. As for Face Book I have less than ZERO interest, I can see that I will have to eventually, as business pages are increasingly going that way. :( :( If I do I will still be Monza Harry, I have found that the people that seem to want to talk to me from my past are largely those I wish I would never seen again. No need to make it easy for them to find me. I still live with in a three minute walk of my childhood home and Mom still has that phone number, [57 years? +/-) I have the same landline number since I moved out from my parents and the 1 and only cell phone number if someone wants to find me they only have to look. Facebook makes it too easy for the past to get you in trouble weather you want it to or not. My 2¢ Harry

'The average Facebook user may have have hundreds or thousands of friends on Facebook, but only a small number of those friends can be counted on during tough times --

according to a study by Oxford University psychology professor Robin Dunbar. Dunbar is also known for coming up with Dunbar’s number, which theorizes that people can maintain only about 150 stable relationship..

Dunbar studied the results from 3,375 Facebook users between the ages of 18 and 65 in the U.K. These users had an average of about 150 friends, of which 4.1 were dependable and 13.6 expressed sympathy during an "emotional crisis."
