I've been having trouble with a dead battery lately. The battery
seems to accept a charge when I put it on the charger over night so I
think the battery is OK. No problem, I'll put in a new alternator.

When I disconected the battery ground wire the HP fuel pump clicked
off. Connect again and the HP pump clicks back on. THE IGNITION IS
OFF (and the key removed). The Hp pump and who knows what else is
putting a constant drain on the battery when the ignition is off.

Anyone have this trouble before or know what is going on? I was going
to take it on a short road trip Wednesday but I have to figure this
out before I go.

Any help would be appreciated.

Wendell

Sounds like you have a stuck fuel pump relay inside the computer. You
can open up the computer to see where the relay is then take the
cover off the relay and unstick the relay pole. Duke will have more
info I'm sure, I think he wrote the tech tip on it, but I can't find
it right now.

Sounds like the fuel pump relay is sticking, which is a known problem
item. Confirm with a voltmeter. Voltage should be zero at the
inline fuse input with the ignition off. A stuck fuel pump relay will
run down the battery. You should also check system voltage with the
in dash gage and a voltmeter to verify that your alternators is
functioning properly.

The relay fix in in the TCT Portfolio.

You can probably access the inline fuel pump circuit fuse through the
hole in the glove box liner, but it's probably easier just to remove
the glove box.

TCT Portfolio is available through CVOA.

Thanks for the info. Is the fuse located near the computer? I need to
get a copy of the TCT Portfolio. I can't remember, is that sold
through the club?
