That sounds pretty small. Isn't that about the same size as the stock 4-cylinder core? How many rows?

I believe a Vega 4 cyl. rad is 12x12.25x1.25 giving 147 sq in. I was thinking 3 rows.

Vega with light duty cooling had a 12x12.25x1.25 radiator and Vega with HD Cooling had the 13"X21"X1.5" core...Robert

Last time I spoke to Griffin regarding a
replacement radiator for a Corvette, they told me you need
330 sq./in. minimum on a 350 horsepower V8 and 400
sq./in. is better if you can squeeze it in there.

Just passing the information along...Robert

Robert. Thanks for the infor.I would like to put
a bigger rad in, but unless i cut the sheet metal
that runs across the front between the front fenders?
The hole in that piece is 20.75 x 12.5 in. The sheet
metal will block the core.

What was your question again? For a 400, right?

I agree with you man. When I went from my 3 row to my 4 row there was only a small change in temp. about 3 degrees WOW. It wasn't worth it.

I tested a stock Monza 3 row in my Vega against
my 4row (120 tube) Vega radiator. Even though the
Monza radiator has more surface area, I saw a
consistent 25 degree drop intemperature across the
board.

I have worked on stock V8 Monza's with the
factroy 2 row radiator. Upgrading to a 4 row made no
difference in cooling whatsoever.

Horsepower equates
to heat production. Cooling is made up of fluid
capacity and surface area. Some engines are harder to cool
than others.

Why do you think older Cadillac's
had 4row radiators that were almost as wide as the
car???...Robert

My post simply identifies the (2) Vega core sizes. Total core support area on a Vega is 13" X 21" overall...Robert

I dec ided not to put anything in my Vega bigger
than the opening in the core support. I want 100% of
the surface area exposed to airflow all the
time.

Some people maintain that 16 fins per inch will
just plug up with bugs. In reality, mostmodern aluminum
radiators are even more dense in terms of fin
count.

This unit is very well made and is doing a great
job cooling my 302...Robert

The horsepower and torque would be more
important??? I figured it would be the weight, ever see the
cooling system { Rad, Fan} in a heavy duty truck with
towing package??? My 78 GMC has a 165 net hp 350 with a
huge 3 row and 7 blade fan. I have also seen 70-76
full size buicks with 350 buicks running huge 3
rows...
