Yes, a copper line for the oil guage is needed.
If the car runs quicker than 14.00 seconds, you'll
need a driveshaft loop and a Snell 90 rated helmet.
Make sure the battery hold-down is
adequate.

Good Luck,
Addam

Depends on your local track when Quaker City was
NHRA the had the toughest tech around and never said
anything about the oil line. Keystone is the only one that
cared about that, but they didn't care if your NOS
bottle was in your lap...

I will be going to Race City Speedway in Calgary
Alberta, Canada. as far as I know they run NHRA rules. I
am hoping to run quicker than 14. but in reality I
have no idea what the car will run. where would a
driveshaft loop attach to on a 1980 sunbird? thanx T.J.

you will run in either D.O.T. (street) or PRO 11.00 to 14.99 with slicks, and YES you have to run a "metalic" (copper) oil line, any moe questions, just ask, Joe

How about using steel braided hose for the oil
line? Is this acceptable? I used this on my Monza and
they make it specifically for oil lines and may be
easier to install, although probably a little more
expensive. Clyde

I would recomend running metal line for the oil
pressure guage . Ever been sprayed with hot oil while
wearing shorts in the summer time.I have! Not cool! The
metal line kits used to be like $6-$7 at Napa.Well
worth the investment and it will last forever.Good
luck.Bill

To answer the questions no I have never drag
raced anything at a real race track before, the nearest
tracks are Calgary {1/4} and medicine hat {1/8} will be
sure too change the line, and yes I have had an oil
line break, pisssed oil all over the car.

Chuck D here,
A little advice for ya when ya
clear tech make a few smooth passes before ya try going
all out lets you get the feel of the ride before a
good run. Believe me not fun dropping the hammer
knowing the ride has power and will run then set there
smoking the hides off. I have run at the Rock under NHRA
rules and IHRA rules the only thing they made sure I
had on the wagon was a catch tank for over heating,
then again that was test and tune nites, no sanction
runs, not brave enough for that yet :)

Most tracks will check for the obvious safty
things like a secure battery hold down. All the wheel
studs need to be in place with no missing lug nuts. The
neutral safty switch will be checked to make sure the car
wont start in gear. They will check for seat
belts.Tires will need to be in good condition etc....I would
recomend picking up an NHRA rule book for all the
specifics. The faster you go the more safty rules you will have
to adhere to.Its all in your best interest of
course. Drag racing is a ball and i would recomend
everybody get those HBodys to the track to see what they
will run.You will have a ball!!!! Bill@GM HIGH
PERFORMANCE.
