I think you guys are correct about the first listing. It does look like the V6 version.

Flying bowtie, you asked "what would you guys do?"
Here's what I'd do. Get a piece of 5" square tubing and cut it up and drill it something like this, and get these mounts or the cheaper rubber version. I've never done this but I think I could get it to work.
Now if any of you guys want to steal my idea( patent pending*) and sell them, I want my 10%. Or if you think this won't work point out my mistake. I'd like to come up with a quick reasonable solution.

*pending me actually appyling for a patent

Motor Mounts

Postby Monzamouse » Tue Jan 30, 2007 12:08 pm

Flyingbowtie, I don't know if you are aware that you will need a Monza V8 Oilpan due to the clearance problems you will have if you try to use a stock type pan. Again you can handle this with aftermarket pans from Mororso, etc. or modify a stock one.
I hope you have the transmission crossmember also.
I prefer the Trans-Dapt and Hooker mounts over stock also because it cleans up the sides for headers and creates a better tie
between the top frame rails to help prevent spread like the stock mounts tend to cause (that"s another issue causing camber problems). If you go on line at Summit you can look at the pictures of Both the Hooker and Trans-Dapt mounts. They look identical
yet the TD are only around a 100 dollars. Also someone said the
Don Hardy's are front mounts, they are side mounts (not that that makes any difference just want to clear that up-don't want to hurt anyones feelings). I am not pushing these mounts by any means I am pointing out that there is a solution to the problem if you can't locate the stock mounts.
I mainly wanted you to be aware of the Pan issues and you may already know that. Good luck on your bidding.
Thanks
Larry

I'd go with the factory-style mounts in your case. You can choose from the factory exhaust manifolds, Sanderson headers, or Hooker 2135 headers. See pics of the 2135s here: http://forums.h-body.org/viewtopic.php?t=19140

You only need the front mounts for the Hooker 2129 headers or similar extreme headers. You know better than I if you truly need headers like that.

Motor Mounts

Postby Monzamouse » Tue Jan 30, 2007 11:49 pm

I would suggest looking for a used Monza pan. They show up on e-bay often just like the motor mounts do. The other thing I would do is post in the wanted section on this site and the V8Monza site.
Aftermarket again are going to be pricey. Moroso part no. is 710-20230 about $180 and Milodon part no. is 697-31070 about $210.
Their pickups run about $30. They are for Driver side dipstick, they do not make one for pasenger side.
I did go online at the AutoZone web site and I looked for an oil pan
for a 76Monza 305 and about 3 came up for around $100. I doubt very seriously if they have it.
Good luck in your parts search.

This is probably not a big deal but, those oil pan part numbers (above) appear to be from Jegs or Summit . They have a 3 digit prefix in front of the number.

For example the actual part number from Moroso is just 20230 . And the Milodon pan is 31070.

Again not a big deal I just didn't want any confusion if someone called a different supplier - like a local speed shop looking for that complete 8 digit part number.

Although trust me local speed shops are VERY familiar with the part numbering idiosyncrasies of the large mail order houses :x

Also keep in mind these are deep sump pans, my Moroso pan hangs a little below the front crossmember or k-frame. The stock factory pans do not.

As pointed out the factory pans are often on ebay. All of the advice you have gotten from everyone in this post is good and accurate , it really just depends on the direction you want to go with the car.

For a low budget stock type v8 conversion, I would go with used mounts (for now - until I could get new ones or make my own) and a stock used oil pan along with the stock 305 ci Monza exahust manifolds that you mentioned you had. These items all show up on ebay fairly regularly.

I REITERATE HEINZ057'S STAT4EMENT !!!!!!!! the transdapt mounts will work on a Monza. IF YOU NEED PROOF SEE MY IMSA BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT I AM USING AND THEY WERE MUCH EASIER TO INSTALL THAN THE HOOKER SUPER COMP 2129'S THAT FORCED ME TO USE THEM--
