nope was not oxidised plastic as it had primer under it .......one set came off of a car that had been painted before
one set came off of a car that has never had any paintwork done to it (except the bottom of 1 door under the stripe !)

Has anyone ever painted the louvers body color? I don't think I've ever seen one done that way. The right color may look nice.

sorry, the top is polished the middle is low gloss bumper and the bottom is just a flat black.I like the low gloss myself, I think I could get the wide area looking better with more polishing but the edges are pretty rough as for the flat it just doesn't look right.

The flat black just looks like it's faded. The low gloss looks good and the polished one with alittle more time spent on it would look good too. I think the low gloss would be the best way to go, atleast it's the one i like best. What is the show room correct finish? Were they semi-gloss or shiny?

I'm not sure what they were from the factory, my guess was a semi gloss like the top one. I painted mine a semi gloss like the middle one you have, but for my Road Hawk I'm going to go with a pokished look (cheaper too, lol)

I like the silver edging on those better than all black.

Some Buick Skyhawks were painted body color from the factory. Well, the door louver if it has the SS 'targa band' or whatever it's called. I know of at least one anyway.

Here are a couple pics from my Mirage. They seem to be the semi-gloss. Notice the silver on the rear of the door louver wraps around to the rear of the louver.(does that make sense?)
Keep in mind these are on an 18,500 mile original car.

Ron
Would you say the trim is silver or grey? My Road Hawk has similar treatment that I will need to replicate although it's shape is different, not a louvered look but a couple large outlined rectangles with the door also with the same look.

Definitely silver. Almost reminds me of model paint silver.
