carb trouble

Postby cdnvega » Sun Sep 30, 2007 7:43 pm

I am having trouble with the orig. holley 2 bbl on my astre. I think its the Accelerator pump. When ever you step on the gas the car stalls out. I had the top off the carb and all the passages seem clear. Took the accelerator pump of and it seems ok, its not leaking.
Should I replace it anyways?

You should see the injectors squirt fuel into the carburetor with the engine off. If not, then you have a problem with the accelerator pump. Ether a blocked port or a bad diaphragm.

Accellerator pumps do wear out. If you can find a replacement and easily change it that would be a good first step. Generally if the carb hasn't been serviced in several years a rebuild should go along with it. Also check you vacuum hoses for leaks.
