That is nicest Vegamino I've ever seen

Man a mid engine Vega. I've seen a mid engine Vega once in a magazine. You could probably use Fiero parts if you wanted to do this yourself, but the engine is rotated 90 degrees on the Fiero. I remember that Crown did a mid engine Corvair kit. That is probably what was used on this one. I like it alot.

It appears to have a panel wagon front box cover over the engine. Wonder if it was a real panel wagon?

Wonder how it handles? How the weight is biased? Understeer problems? Braking...?

Neat work. Looks good too.

It's cool but I think a Oldsmobile transaxle would have been ALOT better choice.

The rear axle not fitting just throws the whole thing off. So much work wasted. A Corvair transaxle holding V8 power - yikes !

It's actually a pretty good job. Certainly not hacked. Not my kind of style but different strokes for different folks.

He should built a Camaro. A Vega was a bad choice........no resale value.
'72 Vega with '93 Camaro LT1/M29 T56/12 bolt 3.31. 16" IROCs all around. Sanderson headers into duals with an H-pipe and Flowmasters. It's loud but at least it's faster than your grandma's Buick. pwned.

It does stick out a tad.... yuck!

As for it holding V8 power, they can. I know a person that has a badazz Corvair built for SCCA autocross and road race(lots of fiberglass, widened stance, tube frame, etc). The transaxle has been modified a bit but lives.
Also, a derivative of the Corvair transaxle was used in the '61-'63 Pontiac Tempests..... (made famous by the movie "My Cousin Vinny")...... of course, the lowly aluminum 215 V8 sporting 150-200 hp and 240 lb-ft torque powered them.

I agree, the Olds transaxle would be much beefier, though. They handled a bunch of torque and weight.

It was probably built quite some time ago..... on the cheap. Corvair trans were probably a dime a dozen in the mid to late 70's or early 80's.
Probably a much cheaper substitute for a Jag IRS....

Very nice workmanship. I would still keep the mill up front to make the bed more useful. Whats up with that steering wheel?

So I'm thinking it will top out at $4800.00. We should have a poll...How much at auction is it worth?

Chop the top ring section off of the steering wheel and you will have KITT's ugly cousin
