1979 Monza 305 Intake and Carburetor

Hi All, I'm building a 79 Monza V8 Clone. I think I have most of what I need to do this. I have a low mile 305 out of a 77 Camaro that I'm going to freshen to get the project started and then maybe at some point look for a casting correct 79 305. I am going to with in reason build it as correct as possible (obviously the motor is wrong but for now since I have it I'm going with it). There is a line though where cost crosses good judgement and just plain reality that this car will never be a Hemi Cuda or 396 Chevelle and fetching 6 digit values. That said when buying things for the car I would like when ever possible to put the correct parts on the car, NOT going for date code craziness just what would be the correct casting number for the application. The 305 I have currently has factory GM cast 4 bbl intake and a Rochester 4 bbl off a 84 Cadillac on it based on the casting codes and identifying numbers. This combo runs fine, but at some point I will probably want to swap it back the original 2 bbl set up. So, since my build has not even got going yet and I plan to at least start with the 4 bbl, finding a decent 2 bbl intake and carburetor are not super critical right away but if I had the correct casting numbers and carburetor identification I could just keep and eye out and try to pick them up if I find a bargain one day. So I was wondering if someone might have this information handy or could have a peak if they have a 79 Monza with the stock 305 and jot down the numbers for me.

I meant to add this as well. All I can find for a cast 2 bbl intake that is shown to fit 73-81 305's is a cast intake casting #340266 but from what I can find online it is supposed to be used on Chevelle's, Monte Carlos, and Camaro's. It doesn't list it for the H body from what I see and further I can't find any 2 bbl that says it was used on the H body's. There is one casting # for an aluminium intake for those years but it doesn't say what it was used on and I wouldn't think it would be used on the H bodies, maybe I'm wrong.

As for the carburetor it looks like I would be looking for a 1705910x, or a 1705911x, or a 1705912x. The x being the last digit loosely designating if it was on a Auto or Std transmission car, apparently that was often incorrect.

I'm not sure if this helps or not, but I have a 1979 sunbird that I was told had the drivetrain from an earlier v8 monza put into it sometime around 1985- it originally had the 4 cyl from the emission sticker. It certainly looks and fits like a v8 monza 305, and has the v8 radiator, but I've never tried to verify it. The car was last inspected and driven in 1986. This engine has manifold 346260, and Rochester 2 jet 17057104.

Maybe that's a place to start?

Yes, thanks Terry, the carb number would be correct for a 77 model 17057, the 5 denoting the 1970-1979 years and the 7 indicating the year. So that confirms for me that the numbers of the carbs I'm looking for are right. And the 346260 also works for what you are saying because that casting number is for 1973-1977 2 barrel applications. So thanks that helps some, just seeing if anyone might know the intake casting number used in 79. Gets me on the right track and if I can't find anymore info I will go with the 346260. Thanks again.
