Powerbyace Mounts

Postby SFD114 » Wed Oct 27, 2021 5:21 am

I'm having non-stop issues with the transapt mounts I got for my 74 astre (Chev 350). I've already purchased hedman headers 68330 and was wondering if anyone used the powerbyace mounts 10500K2 with these headers? I'm thinking about cutting my loss with the transapt and going to a different mount but don't want to purchase another set of headers. Also with not using a waterpump mount I will be able to use power steering again....hopefully.

Thanks,

ACE mounts work with Sanderson shorty headers.
Hedman shorty headers should also, they appear to be the same other than the flange thickness.

Thanks. This is the reply I got from them:

Dave; those are 1 1/2" primary headers. Ok for low RPM use. We can't say for sure if they will fit without modification with our 10500 engine mounts.

Thank you

All I asked them was if they knew if this the hedman headers would work. Didn’t ask if they where a low rpm header. I just thought with those mounts I would be able to use my power steering pump.

I think the Hedman shortys are A relevantly new offering.
They seem to be copies of the sanderson shorties which do work with the ACE Mouts.

This is a little late, but here's my 2-cents. I have a set of ACE mounts, and they work well. You will need to either change the steering and K-Member, or use his oil pan in order to make everything clear under there. With the shorty headers, I would guess you have room to run some u-joints on your steering shaft and use the Overkill Racing k-member and steering rack. Based on my experience with the ACE pan warping and leaking, this would not only allow a better pan, but also tighten up your steering. The ACE headers will not allow enough room for the steering rack conversion FYI.

n8thenetninla, I have an moroso oil pan already that clears everything ok. I just installed the power by ace mounts and they clear everything. They work great with the headers. Wish I got them from the start. Super easy to install and they look alot cleaner. Now I just need to figure out the power steering pump brackets, the ps pump I have looks like its going to hit the steering box. Of course.

look for a V8 Monza power steering pump setup, if you can’t find one search Mercruiser 5.0 it’s very close.

My mistake. Everything I said still applies to the LS stuff except I have been able to make the headers and steering rack work together with a lot of creativity.
