Has anyone ever installed a monte Carlo bar or strut bar in their Vega or Vega variant?
There is a thread here labelled "engine compartment bracing" which basically lays out the idea of building up faux shock towers on top of the existing upper control arm mounts for the purpose of attaching a bar from one side of the car to the other. The idea is it provides a brace to keep the weight from a v8, coupled with spirited driving, from forcing the lower control arms further apart and ruining the alignment. This is commonly used on mustangs and tons of imports to stiffen the body.
To deal with the scourge of front frame rail twist after installing a V8:
I was thinking of robbing the idea and using both a "Monte Carlo bar" and a "Strut bar" mounted as explained above to stiffen my chassis. I just want to see if anyone has done it before.
