Having Issues with Monza Electric Fuel Pump

Postby fas141 » Wed Aug 31, 2022 5:14 pm

Can't seem to get electric fuel pump to work on my 77 factory V8 Monza. Was working at one time but not now. Not sure why? but If I unhook the wiring can I jump two of the three terminals and shouldn't the fuel pump work? I know I have oil pressure as put a mechanical gauge in to make sure. I was able to put fuel in the carb and get the engine run for a few seconds to see the gauge work. I do not hear the pump or get fuel even jumping the wiring. Thanks for any input.

If with the ignition on, jumper connected, and fuel pump runs it’s the oil pressure fuel switch or no oil pressure, if no fuel pump runs with the jumper on the oil pressure fuel switch plug “ o.p.f.s”, check voltage at jumper with ignition on, yes or no voltage? if yes either the fuel pump is bad or wiring to it is bad, if no voltage on jumper, problem is before o.p.f.s, such as a fuse or ignition switch or some other wire connection issue.
Hope this helps, always curious to know what the fix was, let us know.
Good luck

Definitely the pump. I jumped the o.p.f.s and chased the voltage through the fuse panel to the plug in the hatchback area which then lead to the pump. So I guess time to drop the tank.

Never say never.. so fuel pump is ok. Dropped tank, turns out the sender was corroded and terminal ends bad. I had to fabricate.. Works good now.
