Rear end and Posi ID help please

Postby GermanMonza » Wed Mar 24, 2021 4:55 pm

Hi all,

I have bought this rear end that came probably off of a 3rd gen Camaro. I got it cheap, I know it’s too wide for a Monza, that’s a problem that can be solved. It has a locker, but I have no clue what it is. Auburns look a little bit different IMO. Would be great to know just in case I need some spare parts.
It looks like a 7.5”, has disk brakes. Probably 3.23 gears, yoke spins 3 1/4 turns for a full turn of the wheel.
Will be able to post more info (spline count and whatever) in a few days and could also take much better pictures if that helps.

Thanks for reading!

I had one of those from a factory Monza that I took out from a junkyard, it was just a cheapo posi unit that pushes plates against the side spider gears. It had no clutches.I installed it in my car ( 151 speed)

After a lot of abuse ,the bolt that held the cross pin in snapped and the pin spun in the housing with the broken bolt and wedged in the carrier, so I ended cutting torching the whole mess out . Basically everything was junk after that.

Mainly used in 4 or 6 cylinder automatic cars.

That doesn't sound too great :(
Well now that I have it I might as well use it. When it breaks, I'll figure out what to do. Thanks for your reply!
