Bell housing hole.. Grommet cable question

Postby 1ton454 » Mon Oct 31, 2022 9:25 pm

I have the iron duke vega bell housing #360162 i plan on using with saginaw 4 speed and SBC in a 72 Vega.. My question is is there a grommet for the hole where the cable comes through the bell housing or is this built into the cable itself ? Also anyone have a part number for clutch cable i need for my application ? Help much appreciated thanks

Are you talking about the rubber grommet in the tin cover?

The upper right corner of the bellhousing is where the ballstud pivot is for the clutch fork. The cable enters on the bottom left corner. I have a brand new clutch cable for a early Vega with the pulley under the dash. This is correct for a 4 cylinder application, what engine do you have? This cable measures 54" tip to tip. Here is a pic of the bellhousing and the tin cover, I do have new grommets for the tin cover, there is no grommet where the cable enters. Ooops, I see you have a SBC so you need the longer cable. I can get one for you, I have extra's for my car.

Here is a pic of the grommet, I assume you still have the pulley for the clutch cable under the dash?

It goes on the tin cover where the return spring passes through. Look at the pictures above and you can see it.
